Down by the Bay

Lyrics and Chords

Down by the bay
Where the watermelons grow
Back to my home
I dare not go
For if I do
My mother will say
"Did you ever see a fly
Wearing a tie?"
Down by the bay.

Down by the bay
Where the watermelons grow
Back to my home
I dare not go
For if I do
My mother will say
"Did you ever see a bear
Combing his hair?"
Down by the bay.

Down by the bay
Where the watermelons grow
Back to my home
I dare not go
For if I do
My mother will say
"Did you ever see a moose
Kissing a goose?"
Down by the bay.

Down by the bay
Where the watermelons grow
Back to my home
I dare not go
For if I do
My mother will say
"Did you ever see a whale
With a polka dot tail?"
Down by the bay.

Down by the bay
Where the watermelons grow
Back to my home
I dare not go
For if I do
My mother will say
"Did you ever see a llama
Wearing pajamas?"
Down by the bay.

Down by the bay
Where the watermelons grow
Back to my home
I dare not go
For if I do
My mother will say
"Did you ever have a time
When you couldn't make a rhyme?"
Down by the bay

On Top of Spaghetti

7/28/2014

Lyrics Only

On top of spaghetti,
All covered with cheese,
I lost my poor meatball,
When somebody sneezed.

It rolled off the table,
And on to the floor,
And then my poor meatball,
Rolled out of the door.

It rolled in the garden,
And under a bush,
And then my poor meatball,
Was nothing but mush.

The mush was as tasty
As tasty could be,
And then the next summer,
It grew into a tree.

The tree was all covered,
All covered with moss,
And on it grew meatballs,
And tomato sauce.

So if you eat spaghetti,
All covered with cheese,
Hold on to your meatball,
Whenever you sneeze.

Lyrics  (Warning - May contain lyrics that are disturbing for some children and/or adults)

I'm bringing home my baby bumble bee
Won't my Mommy be so proud of me
I'm bringing home my baby bumble bee -
OUCH! It stung me!

I'm squishin' up my baby bumble bee
Won't my Mommy be so proud of me
I'm squishin' up my baby bumble bee -
EW! What a mess!

I'm lickin' up my baby bumble bee
Won't my Mommy be so proud of me
I'm lickin' up my baby bumble bee -
ICK! I feel sick!

I'm barfin' up my baby bumble bee
Won't my Mommy be so proud of me
I'm barfin' up my baby bumble bee -
OH! What a mess!

I'm wipin' up my baby bumble bee
Won't my Mommy be so proud of me
I'm wipin' up my baby bumble bee -
OOPS! Mommy's new towel!

I'm wringin' out my baby bumble bee
Won't my Mommy be so proud of me
I'm wringing out my baby bumble bee -
Bye-Bye baby bumble bee!

The Grand Old Duke of York

Lyrics

Oh, the Grand Old Duke of York.
He had ten thousand men.
He marched them up
to the top of the hill.
And he marched
them down again.

And when they were up, they were up.
And when they were down, they were down.
But when they were only halfway up,
They were neither up nor down.

Lyrics

There's a hole in the bucket, dear Liza, dear Liza,
There's a hole in the bucket, dear Liza, a hole.

Then fix it dear Henry, dear Henry, dear Henry,
Then fix it dear Henry, dear Henry, fix it.

With what should I fix it, dear Liza, dear Liza,
With what should I fix it, dear Liza, with what?

With a straw, dear Henry, dear Henry, dear Henry,
With a straw, dear Henry, dear Henry, with a straw.

But the straw is too long, dear Liza, dear Liza,
The straw is too long, dear Liza, too long.

Then cut it dear Henry, dear Henry, dear Henry,
Then cut it dear Henry, dear Henry, cut it!

With what shall I cut it, dear Liza, dear Liza,
With what shall I cut it, dear Liza, with what?

With a knife, dear Henry, dear Henry, dear Henry,
With a knife, dear Henry, an knife.

But the knife is too dull, dear Liza, dear Liza,
The knife is too dull, dear Liza, too dull.

Then, sharpen it, dear Henry, dear Henry, dear Henry,
Then sharpen it dear Henry, dear Henry, sharpen it!

With what should I sharpen it, dear Liza, dear Liza,
With what should I sharpen, dear Liza, with what?

With a stone, dear Henry, dear Henry, dear Henry,
With a stone, dear Henry, dear Henry, a stone.

But the stone is too dry, dear Liza, dear Liza,
The stone is too dry, dear Liza, too dry.

Then wet it, dear Henry, dear Henry, dear Henry,
Then wet it dear Henry, dear Henry, wet it.

With what should I wet it, dear Liza, dear Liza,
With what should I wet it, dear Liza, with what?

With water, dear Henry, dear Henry, dear Henry,
With water, dear Henry, dear Henry, with water.

But how shall I get it?, dear Liza, dear Liza,
But how shall I get it?, dear Liza, with what?

In the bucket, dear Henry, dear Henry, dear Henry,
In the bucket, dear Henry, dear Henry, in the bucket!

But there's a hole in the bucket, dear Liza, dear Liza,
There's a hole in the bucket, dear Liza, a hole.

Lyrics (The Three Bears Rap)

Once upon a time in a nursery rhyme there were three bears.
(click, click, click)

A Mama and a Papa and a wee bear. (click, click, click)
One day when they went walkin' and a-talkin' in the woods.

Along came a girl with long, golden hair. (click, click, click)

”Someone’s been sitting in my chair,” said the Papa bear.

“Someone’s been sitting in my chair,” said the Mama bear.

“Hey, Mama Three Bear,” said the little wee bear,
 “Someone has broken my chair.”

Yeah!

“Someone’s been tasting my porridge,” said the Papa bear.

”Someone’s been tasting my porridge,” said the Mama bear.

“Hey, Mama Three Bear,” said the little wee bear,
”Someone has eaten my porridge."

Yeah!

“Someone’s been sitting on my bed,” said the Papa bear.

”Someone’s been sitting on my bed,” said the Mama bear.

“Hey, Mama Three Bear,” said the little wee bear,
”Someone is here in my bed.”

Yeah!!

Goldilocks woke up and broke up the party. (click, click, click)

"Bye, bye, bye, bye, bye, bye, bye," said the Papa bear.
(wave hand)

”Bye, bye, bye, bye, bye, bye, bye, ” said the Mama bear.
(wave other hand)

"Hey, Mama Three Bear," said the little wee bear,
"Bye, bye, bye, bye, bye, bye, bye."
(wave both hands)

Yeah!

Little Rabbit Foo Foo

Lyrics

Little Rabbit Foo Foo
Hopping through the forest
Scooping up the field mice
And bopping 'em on the head

And down came the Good Fairy
And she said
"Little Rabbit Foo Foo
I don’t want to see you
Scooping up the field mice
And bopping 'em on the head.”

“I'll give you 3 chances
And then I'll turn you into a goon!”

The next day…

(Repeat two more times with 2 and 1 chances)

I gave you three chances.
Now I'll turn you into a goon!"
(POOF!)

    About

This is a collection of my favourite songs, rhymes, riddles and poems. Many of them I remember from my childhood and many of them I have discovered since then.

I still sing many of these songs to this day, whether it is with my own children or the children that I teach at school. I find them a great means of stress relief both in and out of the classroom.

Most of these songs should be in the public domain. You will also find that there are multiple versions for each song or rhyme. Please feel free to share your variation, request some sheet music or inform me of any funny songs that should be added to the list..
